Another Ax-the-Tax candidate is vying for a top Orange County leadership post. Accountant Jim Duffy, plugging an anti-commuter rail plank, formally filed to challenge incumbent Linda Stewart on Wednesday.
District 4, covering the southeastern part of Orange, has already attracted two viable challengers in Jennifer Thompson and Juan Pablo "J.P." Quinones. Both Republicans joined the nonpartisan race in recent months against Stewart, a Democrat.
Thompson, active in business circles, was named a top young professional in the Orlando Business Journal, and Quinones taps the resources of brother John "Q" Quinones, a state House Republican.
Duffy, a Republican, joins fellow Axer Sally Baptiste, who filed to run against County Mayor Rich Crotty on a similar anti-commuter rail platform.
