AX THE TAX DEERFIELD BEACHВ EFFORT EXCEEDS GOAL. GONOT RECALL MOVES FORWARD

Chairman Chris Tauber (954) 592-8736

Ax the Tax Deerfield Beach has announced that the petition to Recall Deerfield City Commissioner Stephen Gonot has exceeded the number of signatures necessary to initiate the final step to place the recall of Gonot on the ballot.

"Due to incredible volunteer support and the tremendous grassroots of over 1,300 Deerfield Beach voters, Mr. Gonot's recall will advance to the next level," stated Ax the Tax Deerfield Beach Chairman Chris Tauber.

Over 1,300 petitions will be filed with the Deerfield Beach city clerk on Friday activating phase two of the recall effort. Once the signatures are validated by the Broward Supervisor of Elections office, Gonot will provide a statement opposing the recall. The city clerk will then print enough petitions for 30% of the registered voters of Deerfield Beach to sign the final recall petition. It is then necessary to obtain signatures from 15% of the registered voters to place the recall on the ballot.

Ax the Tax Chairman Doug Guetzloe is advising the Ax the Tax Deerfield Beach and the Recall Gonot Committee. Attorney Fred O'Neal, who successfully represented the Recall Thompson Committee (Winter Garden)in court is the attorney for the two Deerfield Beach organizations.

"We are very pleased that nearly 15% of the voters signed the first petition and given the tremendous support of the voters, Gonot will face a recall vote within the next several months," concluded Tauber.

After the petition is certified for the ballot, the Recall Gonot Committee, Chaired by local businessman Steve Miller will coordinate the political and grassroots effort necessary to remove Gonot from office.

"Mr. Gonot's reign of terror is almost over," stated Miller.
