Doug Guetzloe comes out swinging, denying he's done anything wrong.

"Did I tell the truth? The answer is yes."

The Ax The Tax Chairman has been charged with perjury for his testimony surrounding a controversial city election in Daytona Beach in 2003.

"How do I prove that I'm not a witch? That's the real issue. I laugh, and I shouldn't be laughing. These are very, very serious charges, but the bottom line is I haven't lied. I didn't lie under oath. I would never lie under oath."

He's under an indictment over where he got money to use in the election. Guetzloe said it was his money in a deposition. A grand jury called that perjury. Here's the kicker:

"The deposition and the hearing had nothing to do with where the source of funds may have come (from) that we spent for Ax The Tax in Daytona Beach."

No one even asked him in those depositions where he got the money for campaign flyers to defeat Council candidate Darlene Yordan. He says that is how he will get the charges thrown out.

"They can conclude the same thing that the Florida Elections Commission and the Fifth District Court of Appeals concluded, and that was that I spent my own money in this particular campaign."
